There are moments that you want to share with just close friends and family, not the world–the baby’s first steps, Junior receiving his diploma, announcing your engagement, or Grandma busting a move at the wedding. Such special moments happen once in a lifetime and now can be shared and enjoyed more privately thanks to new mobile Burst, co-founded by Bryant McBride.

Burst, an interesting name for an even more interesting mobile app was actually inspired by a grandmother’s request. In meeting that request, McBride saw an opportunity to develop a solution that would meet the needs of thousands, even millions desiring to share mobile content. In the interview below, we discuss just how Burst came to be and why it appeals so much to parents and individuals who like to share videos and photos more privately.

But with so many mobile video and photo apps in existence, what makes this one “pop”? Unlike most mobile and online apps, Burst was not developed to “broadcast” to thousands in hopes of developing large audiences.  Burst, instead gives the user control of the size of his or her captive audience.

Another unique perk of this new mobile app is not only can you send multiple videos or photos via email or SMS, but as you use it your media is recorded in the “cloud.” So you can skip the usual step of uploading then sharing.  Your media is immediately available and ready to share. Even better, recipients don’t initially have to be Burst users to see what you’ve shared.

Change your mind on who should see what you’ve shared, you can even deny access to it AFTER you’ve sent it.  How many apps allow that? And no matter whether you’re on your smartphone or on a computer, Burst’s capabilities don’t change.

In our recorded chat recently, I talked with McBride at Burst’s headquarters in Boston about the app’s many use and also its various potential uses for businesses. And having launched this past June, we also discussed some of the app’s developments.  So, take a view or listen, as we chat literally from coast to coast.
